The first ever image recorded on paper,was taken in 1827 by Niepce Joseph Nicephore.
The word photography was first used in 1839 and come from the greek words: Photos (light) and Graphein (to draw)  
The first 35 mm camera was the ur-leica, developed by Oskar Barnack in 1914
The world fastest camera is fast enough to freeze any fast action at 200 million frames per second. It was design to show how things break apart.  
Most valuable photograph in the world:Grande Vague - Sate, taken by French photographer Gustave Le Gray in around 1885, was sold at Sotheby's, London, England, for $832,300 on Oct. 27, 1999. It was bought by an anonymous bidder.
