Born in Quebec, Canada in 1972, Pierre grew up in the mountains of Sherbrooke, where he learned to appreciate nature at a young age. He started snowboarding at 17. His love of the sport took him to Whistler, British Colombia, a world renowned ski resort on the west coast of Canada, where he resided for 8 years.
Although he had always been interested in art, Pierre uncovered his true artistic talent while living in Maui, Hawaii for four years. After successfully exhibiting his paintings (acrylic on canvas, 2003), he began to turn his attention to photography.
However, Pierre experimented with photography from a young age, first holding a camera at fourteen years of age. He studied in photography, animation and video. His passion for photography was renewed with the aquisition of his first digital slr camera.
His unique style conveys simple, individual compositions, with intense attention to detail. Nature is his inspiration and his favourite visual playground. Pierre loves to be outside with the elements and is always amazed by the beauty of things arround him.
"To be a photographer is to be aware of things around you. Lots of people miss the most beautiful of things. You need to appreciate nature and see it as it is. You need to be aware."
His work has been featured and gained growing recognition in various international competitions, magazines and news papers. His most recent accolade was the cover of Canadian Geographic magazine, the awards for first place out of over 23000 submissions in the betterphoto.com online competition. Second place in the GoIreland photography competition 2 years in a row with media coverage in national and local papers. He is currently working on his first photographic exhibition project.
